The Regstrat Conference took place in Stuttgart on 30 March, followed by the MLP Workshop on 31 March. For further details, see Stuttgart Conference.
The workshop held on 12 May 2006 in Lombardy targeted at regional administration and focused on eliciting SPI knowledge, and in particular, information on the present use of SPI tools, the demand for as well as the expected benefits of such policy support instruments in regional authorities. These issues were analyzed prior to the workshop by way of a detailed questionnaire disseminated among decision-makers in the RegStrat-partner regions and other interested regions. In total, 22 questionnaires from 8 countries were completed and included in the analysis. Following, 30 persons from 8 countries and 14 regions participated in the workshop. It aimed at an in-depth discussion of the questionnaire results, as well as at an exchange of ideas between the decision-makers concerning their understanding, the expected benefit and the utilisation of Strategic Policy Instruments in various regions, organisations and contexts. For more information, see Varenna workshop.
On 29/30 November 2006, a workshop took place at the Royal Dublin Society in Dublin, Ireland, and was hosted by Forfás. During this workshop, a first draft of the RegStrat Guide was discussed. Furthermore, all project partners presented their ideas on the planning and implementation of their pilot applications in 2007. As external participants, two representatives of the Stockholm region gave an impulse presentation on their latest Foresight project which will run between 2006 and 2008.
On 19/20 April 2007, a joint RegStrat/Six Countries Programme conference took place in Dublin, Ireland. The theme of the conference was "From Innovation Policy Research to Local Policy Implementation". It aimed to bring together policy researchers with policy practitioners, and harness synergies from this innovative combination of participants and expertise. The RegStrat partners currently working on their pilot exercises took this opportunity to present and discuss the state of affairs, next steps and envisaged challenges with the Six Countries Programme participants.
More information on the event and the conference presentations can be found at the Six Countries Programme-website.
The RegStrat final event took place on 11 March 2008 at the Representation of Baden-Württemberg to the EU in Brussels.
The RegStrat final event featured the presentation of the RegStrat Guide & Compendium. Specifically, it discussed the application of Strategic Policy Intelligence tools from various angles, European Commission representatives approached SPI for policy support and implementation, and the RegStrat outcomes featured both on a general level contributing to the Lisbon Strategy and on the level of concrete applications for regional development. The final event was followed by an evening reception which featured the kick-off of a new Regions-of-Knowledge project, CReATE, building upon the know-how generated in RegStrat.
